Project Summary

As part of a multi-side program for a confidential social media client, CEI completed data center projects across the Midwest in Altoona, IA, New Albany, OH, Los Lunas, NM, and Eagle Mountain, UT.

Altoona, IA Data Center: CEI began working on this multi-phase data center project in Altoona, Iowa in 2014, and helped to build five of the six projects (codenamed "Catapult")  at this location. The five projects involved several mission-critical facilities, site infrastructure, including intense medium voltage and site communication underground pathways, utility-grade medium voltage distribution switchgear, and 3000kVA transformers. The interior included pre-manufactured electric room skids, heavy underground distribution, multiple remote power panels, overhead data center rack busway, and a unique penthouse air delivery system with multiple electrical connections. A second wave of projects in Altoona, IA (codenamed "Sequalent") are currently under construction and are expected to be complete in 2022. The Sequalent project includes eight data halls, a two-story administration building, water rooms, a penthouse, numerous electrical rooms, and all associated roof equipment—and more to come.

New Albany, OH Data Center: The project at this location consisted of eight new data halls and an administration office area, the installation of a new substation with medium voltage distribution from the substation throughout the campus, power distribution, modular skid installation, low voltage power distribution, technology pathways throughout the campus, full technology raceway/cable tray, lighting and lighting controls throughout the building and campus.

Los Lunas, NM Data Center: Project "Antelope" is a group of data center buildings and associated power/technology, including new data halls and an administration office area. CEI’s scope included installing a substation with medium voltage (MV) distribution throughout the campus, power distribution, low voltage power distribution, technology pathways under throughout the campus, modular skids, full technology raceway/cable trays, lighting and lighting controls throughout the building and campus.

Eagle Mountain, UT Data Center: This greenfield project (codenamed “Steeplechase”) features a two-story, “H” configuration, and consists of eight data halls, mechanical penthouses, back-up generator power equipment, and a connecting administration building. A new customer-owned substation and an incoming telecommunication infrastructure pathway are also part of the campus-wide project.
